If you did not know, I just got back from an eight day painting workshop in Venice, Italy. It was amazing to say the least. Eating great food, painting the sights, drinking wine and cappuccinos whenever you want; it was almost like a dream. However, for me, that was not the best part. The most fantastic part of my trip was that I had the pleasure to live with about twenty other people that, frankly, outside of the art world we would have absolutely nothing in common. I got to hear stories of where people came from, what people do now; I learned about peoples creeds and affiliations. And best of all, I was asked some pretty hard questions and heard some very critical evaluations of how people view and respond to the church. In some ways, it can be easier for outsiders to ask hard questions, being that they are outside our community of faith. This Sunday we are opening the floor for people to ask the very hard questions about the Christian faith, the state of the "Big C" Church, and the role that we, as Christians, hold and fulfill as Christ's ambassadors, particularly to the Beaches.
The format we will follow is this:
1. You can ask any question you want! Feel free to get scandalous; so, for example you could ask: "What's wrong with being gay and a Christian? Is being homosexual really that bad, especially with the gay rights movement and the push for gay marriage?" We want you to ask us the hard questions.
2. After you come up with your question, follow this link to the OCC Facebook Page and post your question on the page. If you would like to keep your question more private, feel free to ask your question in a message to OCC on the page. There have been questions already posted. We hope to hear from all of you. Feel free to ask more than one question. Any hot button issue is up for grabs!
3. Derek will pick the questions that will best fit our schedule for Sunday and we will talk about these this week.
