What Does Gospel Community Really Look Like?

Hi, Ocean City!

We are in a wonderful season as an intimate community on mission at the Beaches. Please continue to pray along side us as we seek God's face and His plans for us in this place.

Last Sunday, we spent more time on the concept of Hospitality; how that really fits in with our call to be missional and missionaries in our everyday lives. It can be so easy to invite friends over and hang out, but is that the extent to which we should go in our call to be hospitable?

Well, this week the topic will be transitioning to Gospel Community. When you think of Gospel community what comes to mind? For me, the first thing that comes to mind is old people eating potluck style food in aluminum chairs at really old fold-out tables in an indoor basketball court; drinking lemonade in Solo cups and talking with their mouths full as little children go by screaming at the tops of their lungs. Is gospel community reserved to potluck dinners and Men's Breakfasts; a place of fake toothy grins and polite nods? We believe that Gospel Community should function...well, something like a family. Jesus, we believe, is our perfect example and we will be examining what he to says about Community living.

The Nuts and Bolts:

We are meeting at Derek and Beth's. The Harmon's live at 402 7th Avenue North in Jax Beach (it's the 2-story on the left coming from 3rd Street). Parking along their house should be fine. If you have children go to OC Kids for more info.

We're meeting from 5-7pm.

This week's food theme is "Mediterranean". Please post what you are bringing on the OCC Facebook page.

See you Sunday!

By the way, JB and Rachel had their baby girl, Montgomery Lee. And, as a side note, they are moving this Saturday. Let us know if you can help. You can reach JB at 352.895.4671.
