Your Kingdom is Too Small

In case you haven't been around the last week or so, we've started a new series. As a church we believe that it's good to read and go through books of the bible. And that's just what we're doing. Sunday, Derek kicked us off on our study through the book of Galatians. It's going to be exciting to see how God speaks to us through His inerrant, Spirit-breathed Word.

If you don't have a regular bible reading plan, or even if you'd like to read ahead, it would be awesome if you read Galatians along with us. It's only six chapters and I read the whole thing to my son in less than thirty minutes. There are also several resources out there if you would like to dig deeper (or if you are a theology junky like myself):

Martin Luther's Commentary on Galatians

Tim Keller's series on Galatians This is $10 and it has a study guide

John Piper's series on Galatians These are so old I think they used to be on tapes!

We will have some more resources in the coming weeks. Galatians is an awesome epistle. It contains some of my favorite verses like Galatians 2:20 and Galatians 3:13.

Oh, yeah, and for some of you, you may be thinking, "What's an epistle, anyway?" Well, my friends, the faithful scholarship of Wikipedia states,

"An epistle is a writing directed or sent to a person or group of people, usually and elegant and formal didactic letter. The epistle genre of letter-writing was common in ancient Egypt as part of the scribal-school writing curriculum. The letters in the New Testament from Apostles to Christians are usually referred to as epistles. Those attributed to Paul are known as Pauline epistles and the others as catholic (i.e., “general”) epistles.

The Nuts and Bolts:

We are meeting at Derek and Beth's. The Harmon's live at 402 7th Avenue North in Jax Beach (it's the 2-story on the left coming from 3rd Street). Parking along their house should be fine. If you have children go to OC Kids for more info.

We're meeting from 5-7pm.

See you Sunday!
